Plagiarism Policy

JRPM: Jurnal Riset Pecinta Matematika is committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity and ethical behavior in the publication of research. Plagiarism, in any form, is considered a serious violation of ethical standards and will not be tolerated.

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism involves the use of another person's ideas, words, data, or other material without proper acknowledgment or permission. It includes, but is not limited to:

  1. Direct Plagiarism: Copying text from another source without quotation marks or proper citation.
  2. Self-Plagiarism: Reusing one's own previously published work without acknowledgment or permission from the original publisher.
  3. Mosaic Plagiarism: Mixing copied material from multiple sources without proper citation.
  4. Accidental Plagiarism: Unintentionally failing to cite sources correctly due to negligence or lack of knowledge.

Plagiarism Detection

To ensure the originality of submitted manuscripts, JRPM employs the following measures:

  1. Plagiarism Check: All submitted manuscripts are checked for plagiarism using Turnitin software. The similarity index must not exceed 20%.
  2. Reviewer Checks: Reviewers are also encouraged to identify any potential plagiarism during the peer review process and report it to the editorial team.

Handling Plagiarism

If plagiarism is detected at any stage of the publication process, the following actions will be taken:

  1. Before Publication: If plagiarism is identified before an article is published, the manuscript will be immediately rejected, and the authors will be notified. Depending on the severity, authors may be banned from submitting future manuscripts to JRPM.
  2. After Publication: If plagiarism is discovered after publication, JRPM will conduct an investigation. If plagiarism is confirmed, the article will be retracted, and a retraction notice will be published on the journal's website. The authors' institutions may also be notified.

Author Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality of their work and for properly citing the work and ideas of others. Authors should:

  1. Submit Original Work: Ensure that the manuscript is original and has not been published elsewhere.
  2. Cite Sources: Properly cite all sources of data, ideas, and text used in the manuscript.
  3. Acknowledge Contributions: Acknowledge all contributors and sources that have significantly influenced the research.

Consequences of Plagiarism

JRPM takes plagiarism seriously and will take appropriate actions against authors who violate this policy. Consequences may include:

  1. Rejection of Manuscript: Immediate rejection of the manuscript if plagiarism is detected during the review process.
  2. Retraction: Retraction of the published article if plagiarism is discovered post-publication.
  3. Ban on Submission: A ban on future submissions to JRPM for authors found guilty of plagiarism.
  4. Notification to Institutions: Notification to the authors' affiliated institutions and possible public disclosure of the plagiarism.

Education and Awareness

JRPM is committed to educating authors, reviewers, and editors about the importance of ethical writing and proper citation practices. We provide resources and guidelines to help prevent plagiarism and promote academic integrity.
